Festival of Tall Ships

Voyage of L'Hermione | July 1-4 | Pier 15
Twenty years ago, a small group dreamed of reconstructing an exact replica of General Lafayette’s 18th-century ship called the Hermione. Today, the majestic vessel is the largest and most authentically built Tall Ship in the last 150 years. The Hermione has set sail in France, launching an adventure that comes to the USA in the summer of 2015 for an unprecedented voyage. From July 1st thru 4th L’Hermione will be docked at Pier 15 at the South Street Seaport. El Galeón | July 4-12 | Pier 15
El Galeón is a 170-foot, 495-ton, detailed wooden replica of a galleon that was part of Spain’s West Indies fleet. During the Viva Florida 500 Voyage, it will cover more than 3500 nautical miles with 28 crew members aboard, maneuvering more than 9,600 square feet of sail area, as it was done in the 16th Century. The ship is owned by the Nao Victoria Foundation of Seville, Spain. El Galeón will be joining Hornblower’s fleet for 8 days starting July 4th at Pier 15 at the South Street Seaport. Part of the part of the proceeds will go to benefit the South Street Seaport Museum and New York Harbor School. LEARN MORE>>

About Macy's Fireworks Show

The 39th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks® will rumble to life over New York City, igniting the skyline over the East River with the nation’s largest Independence Day pyrotechnic display. America’s most spectacular party will take place from two locations on the East River in midtown and within the South Street Seaport district. Brave, the theme of this year’s show, will fire more than 40,000 pyrotechnic shells during a 25-minute synchronized display. Designed in collaboration with PyroSpectaculars by Souza, the show will be fired from four barges positioned between 23rd and 37th Streets in midtown and from one double-barge positioned below the Brooklyn Bridge.
