The Seaport District NYC kicks off the holiday season with its 33rd annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, November 29 at 6:30 pm, presented by Hallmark Channel.
Held on the Fulton Street cobblestones, the tree lighting evening will include special live performances by Vy Higginsen’s Gospel Choir of Harlem and Grace VanderWaal, winner of the 2016 season of America’s Got Talent, singing songs from her debut EP Perfectly Imperfect out Friday, December 2.
Hallmark Channel will host a Hallmark Channel decorated-area on Fulton Street that will mimic the environment of a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. In addition, Hallmark Channel will bring the holidays to life with the production of a four-minute 3D projection light show that will run once per half hour on the evenings of November 29th and 30th and will incorporate iconic themes of the holiday season.
The holiday tree will be lit in conjunction with Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media. In celebration of Giving Tuesday and as part of the revitalization of the Seaport District by The Howard Hughes Corporation will make a donation to the Peck Slip School music program in recognition of their dedication to the Seaport community. The Peck Slip School music program encompasses music education for students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 as well as the school’s Band Programs. The donation will contribute to funding a full-time music teacher and providing a variety of instruments for the music program.
